Protecting your pets from fleas and ticks does not mean dousing them with toxic chemicals!
With flea and tick season upon us our pets need protection, but many of the solutions on store shelves are loaded with chemical pesticides that could be risky to their health—and yours. The most popular kind of flea control product on the market is the “spot-on” or “collar” variety, sold under brand names like Frontline and Advantage or Seresto. (Those given orally, like pills, must be approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.) But the ugly truth is: Many of the pesticides allowed for use on pets are linked to serious adverse reactions. The active ingredients in these solutions include chemicals such as imidacloprid, fipronil, permethrin, methoprene, pyrimidine and flumethrin all of which have and can cause serious health problems in animals including seizures, thyroid toxicity, heart attack, cancer, neurological and respiratory problems, organ failure, gastrointestinal disorders and severe skin irritation tumors and death. Even some of the inert ingredients can be hazardous to your animal companion’s health.
We need to let the EPA know that we do care what goes onto our pets and these toxic products should NOT be on the market!
***These chemical products do not repel or deter fleas or ticks, they still bite the animal.
When Your pet gets bit by a flea or tick, It then starts sucking blood from your pet. The flea or tick then falls off and dies… But why does it die??
The flea or tick dies because it is sucking blood from your pet that has toxic pesticides in it. Need I say more!!
The Best Alternative To Flea And Tick Products
The best solution for fleas, ticks and other parasites is prevention. Healthy animals aren’t good hosts for parasites. This means that once you expose your animal to toxic chemicals, including vaccines, drugs and flea and tick products, his liver and immune system are compromised, making him more likely to host parasites once those flea and tick products wear off. This spirals downward into a cycle of repeated applications and declining health.
“Healthy animals are less attractive, for reasons that science has yet to determine, to fleas and other external and internal pests and parasites, whose whole existence is one of opportunistic survival and multiplication” says Dr Michael Fox DVM. “Dogs and cats on the kind of ‘junk’ foods that are still widely sold are far more prone to fleas and other parasitic and infectious health problems than those who are on a wholesome, whole-food diet, ideally organically certified and of course nutritionally complete.”
